It's a hot one today
thirty nine degrees in Sydney
Lucky I've got air conditioning eh?
But the the air con's using energy
And we need a new energy source
So where we gonna get it from
It's too hot to think about it
In this sun, I can't think for too long

We need something we've got plenty of
Something that's naturally free
Has anyone seen my sunscreen?
Let me think, what could the answer be?
Blow me down, i'm stuck on this one
Why can't we see the light?
Perhaps we should look to the moon above
To the brightly lit stars at night
And I feel that someone's tryin' to tell me something
As I get my tan on the beach
I'm punching figures into this solar calculator
But the answers stil out of reach

So come on John, we don't have very long

Bob Dylan said 'The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind...'
I wish it was as simple as that
Now they're saying nuclear energy could
be where it's at
I hop into my sailing boat, pull the sheet on
And whoosh i'm away
Hope it doesn't cost us too much money
when we find the answer one day

The problem is as big as the sun
Relentless as the winds from the south
The heat's really on the government now
they're afraid they will be voted out
The Earth heats up and I wonder why
I wish the answer would fall from the sky
I wish it would shine like a light in my face
The salvation of the human race

Could the very thing that's going to destroy us
Provide us with a way to survive?
Change always costs alot of money
At least it won't cost us our lives

So come on John, You don't have very long
Come on John

Give us what we want or step aside.
